While the ASEAN agreement states all licenses from member states are recognized, in practice the police especially those outside Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City demand to see an International Drivers Permit. The IDP will be issued in 1968 format
The procedure of obtaining the International Driving License is pretty simple. All you need is to provide the following by email:
- A photo of your newly issued Indonesian driving license
- Relevant driver information
- A recent passport-size selfie photograph
- Your signature (scanned copy or a photograph)
- A ship to address with a contact #

If the spelling of your name on your driver’s license differs from that on your passport, you will need to submit an image of your passport photo. Both names will be recorded our records in accordance with the UN Auto Convention
